Rachel was a member of Group B. She is likely named after Rachel in the Bible, as it is suggested that the girls in Group B are named after religious figures.

Biography

She is first mentioned by Aris in The Scorch Trials, who explains that she was the only one who cared for him, and they became friends shortly after Aris arrived in the Maze. She could communicate telepathically with Aris like Thomas could with Teresa. From what Aris says, Rachel is Group B's equivalent of Thomas.

However, like with the Gladers, after Group B escaped from the Maze, Beth, who seems to be Gally's equivalent, stabbed Rachel while she was under WICKED's control. No one jumped in the way like Chuck did for Thomas, leading Thomas to believe that he should have been killed. These fears are unfounded, of course, for it is later revealed that Chuck had been under WICKED's control when the knife was thrown and he jumped in the way.

Film

In The Scorch Trials, Aris shows Thomas an area where covered gurneys are wheeled into a locked room. He reveals to Thomas that the vents don't go into that room but he has a bad feeling about it, especially since the number of gurneys wheeled in equals the number of people that were called earlier in the day for being "released" from the base to be moved to a safer location.

Once Thomas swipes a WCKD personnel's credentials, he and Aris slip into the room, discovering multiple figures from either other Mazes or their own hanging from the ceiling. Thomas mistakes one girl hanging limply from one of the machines to be Teresa but as he pushes her hair aside, Aris discovers its Rachel. He reveals to Thomas that she was called on the first night and that he told her everything would be all right. Both deduct that she's not dead but being kept in a coma-like state as her blood, tissue, and other organs are harvested for a cure to The Flare.

Appearance

While she was never described in the original trilogy, Rachel was featured in the prequel comic The True Maze, one of the short comics in The Scorch Trials Graphic Novel. She was depicted as Caucasian with short red hair that she always tied back. However, in the second movie her appearance was similar to that of Teresa's as Thomas mistook Rachel for her.
